Arthur D. Chesser, a retired farmer and a member of one of the Red Level area's pioneer families, died suddenly Saturday at his home in McKenzie.

Mr. Chesser, who was 62 years of age, was the father of Griel Chesser, of Andalusia, a partner with Thaxton Brannon in the B & C Auto Parts Co.

He was a brother of Lewis V. Chesser, attorney and retired Civil Service employee, who has recently returned to Red Level to engage with another brother, Wilburn Chesser, in cattle farming.

Arthur Chesser had lived and farmed on RFD 2, Red Level, for most of his life. When his health declined in recent years, he moved with his wife to McKenzie where he maintained his residence next door to a daughter, Mrs. Edwin McIntyre and Mr. McIntyre.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the Corinth Church, near Red Level, with Rev. G.H. Grantham and Rev. J.H. Hyde officiating.

Interment was in the Pigeon Creek Cemetery, Johnson Funeral Home, of Georgiana, directing.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Eunice Chesser, McKenzie; four daughters, Mrs. Edwin McIntyre, McKenzie; Mrs. William E. Jones, Daphne; Betty Joyce Chesser, Houston, Texas; Linda Chesser, McKenzie; five sons, Griel Chesser, Andalusia; Morris Chesser, Shreveport, LA; Bob Chesser, Chapman; Carroll Chesser and Ken Chesser, both of McKenzie; four sisters, Mrs. Clyde Wiggins, Mrs. Eva Sweatt, Mrs. Ray Beesley, all of Red Level; Mrs. Bess Maynard, Niagara Falls, N.Y.; two brothers, Lewis V. Chesser, and Wilburn Chesser, both of Red Level; and 14 grandchildren.
