John E. Dunaiski, 92, of West Eighth Street died Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998, in St. Luke's Hospital.
He was born in Sturgeon Lake on Dec. 27, 1905, to Stefan and Agnes Lepak Dunaiski. After moving to Duluth, John later married Gertrude Walzak, in Duluth, on May 30, 1929. He had retired from Elliott's meat packing Co., where he started work in 1920. In recognition for his long service, John received a 50-year plaque award from Elliott's.
He was an outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, where he had been a past choir member and a member of the Friars of St. Francis. He was also a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5142.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers Riley, Isadore, Jozef, Adam, Edwin, Andrew and Stanley; sisters Clotilda Shudie, Tina Cieslak, Helen Kurznia, and Eve and Wanda Dunaiski.
He is survived by his wife, Gertrude; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Burial was in Polish Catholic Cemetery.
