Francis “Bubba” Morrah Marchant, age 94, passed away at his home on June 7, 2016. Born in Greenville SC, on September 15, 1921, he was the son of the late M.L. Marchant and the late Kathleen Marchant. He attended the Citadel before proudly serving his country in the United States Army, earning the rank of Captain and serving in the 84th Infantry during the European Theatre. He was wounded in WWII, and received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was the owner and operator of RC Bottling Company and later retired from Coca-Cola Bottling Company as General Plant Manager and Vice President. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he oversaw the church golf tournaments for many years. He also enjoyed his time working with the Anderson County Junior Golfers for more than 25 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary “Dot” Cowan Marchant; a son, Buck Marchant (Bonnie); a daughter, Jean C. Ashworth (Pete); three grandchildren, Craig, Kevin, and Patrick Kinley; and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Luther Marchant, Jr, and John B. Marchant; and a sister, Mary Burdette. Interment at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. McDougald Funeral Home.
