Services Saturday for Randolph crash victims

Two rural women were killed and two other people injured in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday morning in northern Randolph County.
Killed were Patricia J. Kellogg, 39, 1275 East 400 South, Portland, Elizabeth McCurdy, 19, 3346 East 300 South, Portland, said Major Jay Harris of the Randolph County Sheriff's Department.
Kellogg and McCurdy, who both employees of Ameri-Care Living Center of Portland, were traveling to Winchester Wednesday to attend classes to become certified nursing assistants.
A car driven by Kellogg was driving southbound on U.S. 27 just south of the Jay-Randolph county line at 6:43 a.m. when it slid into the path of a northbound pick-up truck hauling a trailer, police said.
The truck driven and owned by Karen E. Barron, 46, 775 East 200 South, Winchester, struck the passenger side of Kellogg's 1998 Ford Taurus.
Kellogg and McCurdy was pronounced dead at accident scene by Randolph County coroner Duane Petry. Barron and passenger in truck, Kevin R. Miller, 25, 804 W. Cromer, Muncie, were transported to St. Vincent-Randolph Hospital in Winchester. Barron was treated and later released, and Miller was transported to Ball Memorial Hospital. A spokesperson from the Muncie Hospital said this morning Miller has been released.
