Mrs. Izilla Hester McDaniel Holbrook, 78, mother of Mrs. George W. Kirkpatrick of Colusa known as the first white child born on the Sacramento river north of Sacramento, died at her apartment in Willows last night following an attack, presumably of indigestion, which she suffered Sunday morning. The widely known [unreadable] of Colusa and Glenn counties born at Butte City September 30, 1853, and is survived by four children, two sisters, seven grandchildren and three great-grand-children. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at Marvin Chapel, with burial to be in Marvin Chapel cemetery. Nearly Covered Wagon Baby. For many years Mrs. Holbrook lived at Afton, moving to Willows last summer to be near her daughter. Her parents crossed the plains in a covered wagon and a few days after they reached Butte City, Mrs. Holbrook was born. As a girl of 17 she married John Annand, who died in 1898. To this union, eight children wore born, of which four survive. They are: Annie Belle Kirkpatrick of Colusa; Elmer Ansel Annand of Butte City; Mrs. Emma Gertrude ___ of Willows and John Earl Annand of Hollister. The two sisters who survive are Mrs. Kate ___ of Saratoga and Mrs. Mary ___ of Richmond. Several years ago the deceased united in marriage with B.F. Holbrook, who is ill in a hospital, in Yreka and will be unable to attend the funeral services tomorrow. Services at 2:30. The remains will be taken from the Undertaking Parlors in Willows tomorrow afternoon for burial at Marvin Chapel cemetery 2:30 o’clock. The Rev. ___ will officiate and the graveside service will be in charge of the Eastern Star, of which the deceased was a member. Miss Nan ___ will sing appropriate selections the services.
