Mary Jane Wingo -- Valparaiso, IN
Mary Jane Wingo, age 81, of Valparaiso, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2004, at the VNA Horton Hospice. She was born July 3,1923, in McAlester, OK to Charlie R. and Mattie (Foster) Blaine and lived in Oklahoma until moving to Northwest Indiana in 1957, living in Kouts, Portage and in Valparaiso since 1994. Mary had been a sales clerk at Sears for 5 years and at Miller's Market for 15 years and was a member of Valparaiso Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
On July 19, 1941, in Eufaula, OK, she married Joseph E. Wingo who preceded her in death in 1998.
Survivors include three daughters: Colene Jo Wingo-Layman of Westville, June (Dave) Rodrick, Sr., of Kouts and Elaine (Larry) Greer of Hobart; one brother, Charlie (Vanessa) Blaine of Albuquerque, NM; one sister, Mildred (Harvey) Clagg of McAlester, OK; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews in Oklahoma and New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Claudine Spagna in 1992, a great-grandson, Jarred Rodrick and seven half-brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be Saturday, 1 PM at Moeller Funeral Home, Valparaiso, the Rev. Kenneth Gamblin officiating with burial at Graceland Cemetery.
Visitation Friday, 4 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to VNA Hospice.
