Esther J. Mischel, 77, of Everett, passed away on January 22, 2007, at her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Steve's home, where she resided, from a long illness due to cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Esther was born to William, and Helen Syth in Sidney, Montana. She was the 13th child of 18 children. Soon after graduation from Noxon High School in Noxon, Montana, she married Martin R. Mischel.

Esther and Martin followed construction, and in later years they settled in Marysville, Washington. They owned Everett Backhoe Company, and Everett Construction Company, Inc. since 1967. Esther was the bookkeeper for 22 years. Bored with retirement, they started Viking Distributors with Bob Lentz in 1993, and retired one year later.

Esther is survived by her daughters, Peggy (Steve) Friend, of Everett, and Sandy (Don) Sprinkle, of Conconully, Washington; daughter-in-law Shwu Ling Rizzuti; six grandchildren, Amy Friend, Jake (Lynn) Friend, Sara (Brad) Ayers, Andy Orford, Kristie Mischel, and Anthony Hatch; six great-grandchildren, Andrew Wolfe, Mason Friend, Ryker, Brynn, and Taryl Ayers, and Erik Brown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, of 54 years, Martin R. Mischel; son, Rodger D. Mischel; grandson, Tracy Mischel; and her parents.

Esther was involved with many activities and her family. She was a active member of Perpetual Help Church since 1993, and volunteered for the church food bank. She enjoyed bowling, camping, traveling, boating, also loved music and enjoyed playing the organ. Esther was a lifetime member of the Everett Elks B.P.O.E. #479. She also was a member of the Leisuri Kamping Society (an Elks RV Club). She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She especially loved her family gatherings.

A memorial service will be held at 11am, Feb 3, 2007, at Purdy & Walters with Cassidy; reception to follow. We would like to extend a very special thanks to Providence Hospice of Snohomish County for all their wonderful help and support in our hours of need.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Providence Hospice and Home Care of Snohomish County, or The American Cancer Society.
