Nina Smeltzer Dies at 81

MASSENA - Mrs. Clarence Smeltzer, 81, died Monday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Melbourne Fields, in Milburn, New Jersey, following several months of failing health.

Nina Whitney Smeltzer was born October 21, 1875, the daughter of William S. and Harriet Strong Whitney and grew to womanhood in Massena. She was married to Mr. Smeltzer, who survives her. There are also two daughters, Mrs. Shirley Geronsin of Ottawa, Illinois and Leona Fields of Milburn, New Jersey, and a son, Harry of Oceanside, California; one grandson; two sisters, Mrs. Vira Lee of Adel and Meda Whitney of Massena, and a brother, Loyd Whitney of Escondido, California. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Etta Selee, and a brother, L. E. Whitney.

The body will be brought to Massena for interment in the Massena Township cemetery. Members of the family will arrive with the body for funeral services at the Methodist church on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
