Alice B. Banks, age 79, of the Miller Mountain Road, Lindale, passed away on Wednesday morning, April 18th, 2012 at a Rome hospital. A native of DeKalb County, Alabama, Mrs. Banks was born on February 4th, 1933, the daughter the late Coleman and Hattie Bohannon Bryant. She was a homemaker and for a period of time was associated with the Cerebral Palsey Center of Rome. Mrs. Banks served as a volunteer at the Senior Citizens Center on the Kingston Road. Mrs. Banks was preceded in death by a daughter Pat Banks in 2002. Survivors include her husband, John P. Banks, Sr. to whom she was married on April 27th, 1955; 3 sons, John P. Banks, Jr. of Calhoun, Stephen Banks of Calhoun and Bruce Banks and his wife, Rhonda of Lafayette, Ga.; 2 grandchildren, Jeffery and Paul Banks; 1 brother, Max Bryant of Birmingham, AL. Nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Banks will be held this (Thursday) afternoon, April 19th, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. from the graveside of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Ray Miles officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel Funeral Home this (Thursday) afternoon from 1:30 until 3 o'clock. Mrs. Banks sons along with Steve McDonald will serve as active pallbearers.
