Since Walter was the first of Michael & Pricillah's children, it is believed that he was instrumental in aiding his father with the many laboring details associated with the migration of the family from Pennsylvania to Monroe Co., Ohio. It is believed that Sarah Ann was living in Monroe Co. with her parents when she and Walter were married. They settled in Wayne Township, Monroe Co., for a short period, then moved to Washington Co. near Marietta, Ohio. After a short time, they moved across the Ohio River, settling on land along Bull Creek, Wood Co., West Virginia(now Pleasants Co.) where Walter
continued farming activities.
