"Wilma Anna Pauline Peratt (Bauer) was born October 25, 1915, to William J. and Emma (Schoen) Bauer, in Gilead, Nebraska. Her family moved to Fairbury, Nebraska in 1922. It was there that Wilma grew up with her three sisters, attended grade school and graduated from Fairbury High School in 1933. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, and was a devout Lutheran her entire life. Following high school, Wilma worked at the Telephone Company.
Wilma married her high school sweetheart, Hollis Peratt, on June 23, 1935. To this union, four children were born: William, Mikell, Stephen, and Suzanne.
Following their marriage, Wilma and Hollis lived in Kansas, Nebraska, Wyoming and Colorado, including the cities of Aurora, Superior, York, Sidney, Norfolk, and North Platte, Nebraska, and Laramie, Wyoming, as Hollis was advancing in the variety store business with the Hested Stores Company.
Wilma's life was spent as a devoted homemaker, raising her four children, always there when they needed her. When Hollis retired in 1977, they settled in North Platte, Nebraska for 22 years before moving to Elkhorn, Nebraska 13 years ago to be closer to family. Wilma was an active church member, enjoyed visiting with friends, volunteering for various organizations and participating in Bible study.
Wilma passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Brookestone Meadows Rehabilitation Center in Elkhorn, where she was recovering from a broken hip. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, Hollis, her husband of 69 years, daughter Mikell Peratt, and son-in-law Glenn Fornhoff. Wilma is survived by sons and daughter-in-law William and Judy Peratt of Windsor, Colorado, and Stephen of Elkhorn, Nebraska; daughter Suzanne Fornoff of Elkhorn, Nebraska, 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Wilma will be greatly missed, but we are comforted in knowing that she is with the Lord."
