EDWARD PAYSON ABBE, son of Alanson and Eliza Woodruff (Barnes) Abbe, born in the town of Litchfield, Conn., November 28, 1825; died February 25, 1897, in New Bedford, Mass., where he had been a physician since May, 1853.

He was graduated from Yale in 1848 and studied medicine at Harvard, receiving degree in 1852.

Married May 2, 1854, MARY HOOPER BLACKLER, daughter of William Greenleaf and Eunice (Hooper) Blackler, and descended from William Blackler of Marblehead, who had command of the boat in which Washington crossed the Delaware.

2 - Mary Hooper Abbe, b. Sept. 27, 1857, in New Bedford ; resides in Pasadena, Calif. Member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Married April 25, 1889, Henry H. Cammann, b. April 25, 1865, son of Henry Julius and Catherine (Chesebrough) Cammann. Children: i. William Alanson Abbe, b. in New Brighton, N. Y., Sept. 6, 1899 ; ii. Henry Herries Abbe, b. Aug. 22, 1901, in Magnolia, Mass.

3 - Edward Hooper Abbe, b. in New Bedford, May 27, 1864; d. at Atlantic City, N. J., Jan. 16, 1915. He was a physician and was a member of the Sons of the Revolution. Buried in New Bedford. Married (1) Sept., 1889, Lillian Jane Prescott, b. 1866, d. in New Orleans, Sept. 15, 1914, buried in Rockville, Md. She was the daughter of Edwin B. and Mary R. ( ) Prescott of Rockville. Child : Prescott, b. in New Bedford, Sept., 1890. They separated and he m. (2) July 10, 1901, in Washington, D. C, Mary Hunter Duncan, of Washington.
