Barry Ward Acker, 68, of Waxahachie, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, April 16, 2012, at the Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at First Christian Church of Waxahachie. Interment with full military honors will be 11:15 a.m., Wednesday, April 18, 2012, in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.

Barry was born in Dallas, Texas, to Clarence "Buck" and Sarah (Shadday) Ward. Barry graduated from Garland High School in 1961 and served in the U.S. Air Force National Guard for 21 years. He was a member and attended First Christian Church of Waxahachie for seven years and sang in the church choir. Barry loved all music, loved to sing and liked to watch NASCAR and the races. He was a loving husband, son, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his loving wife of nine years, Jane Gorman Acker; daughter, Dawn Manginelli and husband, Robert, of Rowlett; son, Daylon Acker and wife, Laura, of Grand Prairie; grandchildren, Madison and Mason Manginelli, Alyssa Nichole, and Jake Landry Acker; mother, Sally Hugghins, of Waxahachie; and his dear Pomeranian Gizmo.
