A private graveside service in the Amity Cemetery will be held for Jerold "Cherokee Jerry" Ware of Madras. The Rev. Al Hulbert will officiate. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 5, in the Gateway Inn, 300 W. First St., Culver.

Mr. Ware died May 27, 2004, in St. Charles Medical Center in Bend. He was 63.

Mr. Ware was born Sept. 12, 1940, in Independence, Mo., son of Lawrence and Eleneta M. Drane Ware. He moved to Danville, Calif., at the age of 6 and graduated from high school there.

When he was in his early 20s, he began playing the piano as an entertainer, known as "Cherokee Jerry." He performed throughout the greater Northwest, Alaska and New Orleans.

He worked as a photographer for the Sheridan Sun in 1986-87. He enjoyed fishing and boating and was a captain of a commercial fishing boat in Alaska.

He is survived by his fiance Suzie Frazier and his friend, Jack Gehlen, both of Madras.

Macy & Son Funeral Directors, McMinnville, is handling arrangements.

Mr. Ware was born Sept. 12, 1940, in Independence, Mo., to parents Lawrence and Eleneta M. (Drane) Ware. At the age of 6 he moved to Danville, Calif., and graduated from high school there.

In his early 20s, he began playing piano as an entertainer. In the entertainment industry he was known as "Cherokee Jerry" and preformed throughout the greater Northwest, Alaska and New Orleans. He worked as a photographer for the Sheridan Sun from 1986 to 1987.

His special interests included fishing, boating and he was captain of a commercial fishing boat in Alaska.

He is survived by his friend, Jack Gehien of Madras; and fiance, Suzie Frazier of Madras.

A memorial service, officiated by Rev. Al Hulbert, will be held at 1 p.m., June 5, at the Gateway Inn, 300 W. First St., Culver. A private burial will be at the Amity Cemetery in Amity, Ore. Arrangements are under the direction of Macy and Son Funeral Directors in McMinnville.

Jerry was also survived by 4 children. Edward Ware, Guy Ware Jeans, Windy Ware and Christy Ware Clifton. He was also survived by 7 grandchildren. Kimberlee, Cassie, Nicole, Madison, Sydney, Brooke and Sierra. Jerry was married at least 10 times.
