Bryant “Skeeter” Morehead, 62, a retired diesel mechanic of Morton, died of heart failure Friday, September 24, 1999 at his home.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 26 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home of Morton with burial in Sims Cemetery.
Mr. Morehead was a native of Scott County. He was a longtime resident of the Independence community. He served in the United States Air Force for many years. He was a member of Independence United Methodist Church. He was active as a lay minister by visiting area prisons and witnessing to the inmates. He operated a trucking business for many years before retiring.
Survivors include: wife, Wanda: son, Paul Morehead of Morton; stepsons, James Hankins and Roger Hankins, both of Newellton, Louisiana; daughters, Lisa Morehead Ousterhout of Brandon and Melanie Morehead of Morton; stepdaughters, Faye Hankins Usry of Carthage and Belinda Sibley of Kilbourne, Louisiana: sisters, Wilhelmenia Albin of Goodman and Augusta Mae Hurd of Kingsport, Tennessee: and 13 grandchildren.
