Adeline E. Grudle Hemmerling, age 89, of Council Bluffs, passed away April 13, 2012, at Mercy Hospital.
Adeline was born November 8, 1922, near Council Bluffs (Dumphries) to the late Harry and Margarite (Hilbert) Kiersch. She worked at Broadway Cleaners, Nebraska Medical Center and Bethany Lutheran Home. Adeline was a member of Saint John Lutheran Church, Council Bluffs; Polka Lovers of Omaha; Ralston, Nebraska Senior Center; South Omaha Eagles Club; and the Red Hat Society.
In addition to her parents, Adeline was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Hemmerling, in 1998; 3 grandsons; and 2 brothers, Arnold and Leonard Kiersch.
Adeline is survived by her son, Ed Grudle; daughters, Kathy (Randall) Traugh, Margarite Hurd, Carolyn Leaders, all of Council Bluffs, Teresa Hayne, of Omaha; 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; brother, Herman (Carol) Kiersch, of Clarinda, Iowa; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family Tuesday, 6 to 8 p.m., at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral service Wednesday, 10 a.m., at the mortuary with Reverend E. Jon Benson officiating. Interment Mineola, Iowa Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Southwest Iowa.
