Frank was born in Iowa in 1934 and passed away in Denver, Colorado on April 12, 2012. He is survived by his wife Mary; 10 children (and spouses): Kerry, Carolyn (Scott), Franklin (Sandy), Jeff (Gail), Vernon (Darla), Greg (Meg), Virgil (Chris), Tami (Jay), Michelle (David), and Leonard (Kelly); 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters (and spouses): Arlene (Bill), Lillian (Melvin), Marie (Jim), Francis (Keith), Linda (Lyle); 1 brother: Roscoe (Bobbie), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents (Fred and Elsie) and 1 sister (Betty).
Frank enlisted in the army and served his country during his tour of duty. Frank had his pilot's license and enjoyed flying. He was in construction for 49 years, where he excelled in building and designing and he would teach these skills to many younger people. He appreciated the outdoors, especially the mountains. Frank was an avid hunter and fisherman. He would grow terrific flower and vegetable gardens. Frank was quite the square dancer and liked bowling. He could tell a good story, which was often based on some mischief in his life during his younger years. His sense of humor kept him going as his health began to fail. His sense of family was important to him and he was loved by many.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Bullock Colonial Chapel, 1375 E. Hampden Avenue at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services will follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery, with military honors provided by the United States Army and the Veterans of Foreign War at 11:15 a.m.
