Funeral services for William Jacob Brentlinger, 97, who passed away at Rochester on April 17, were held Friday, April 21, at the Nerstrand Methodist EUB Church at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Robert H. James officiating. Thomas Kolling, accompanied by Mrs. Walter Musehl, sang two vocal selections. Interment was in the Nerstrand Cemetery. A family service was held at the Brentlinger residence at 1:30 p.m. Pallbearers included: Ole Heggedahl, Clyde Heggedahl, Warren Lyman, Melvin Nygaard, Kenneth Bailey and Walter Budde. William Brentlinger was born on a farm near Carlisle, Ind., to Andrew and Mary Collins Brentlinger on June 30, 1869. On June 20, 1889, he was united in marriage to Ina May Walker. He farmed for several years after which he engaged in contracting and building in Terre Haute, Ind. Mrs. Brentlinger passed away Dec. 20, 1921. He was united in marriage to Amanda Overholtz in September of 1923. In 1926 they moved to Nerstrand where he was engaged in the oil business with his son, Guy, until his retirement. Mr. Brentlinger was preceded in death by his son, Guy. He is survived by his widow, Amanda, and a daughter, Leah (Mrs. H. O. Elthon), both of Nerstrand.
