Mary Irene Ballard Murphy, 82, formerly of 802 Walnut Park Drive, Owensboro, died Friday, February 23, 1990, at Hillcrest Health Care Center, Owensboro. She was born in Daviess County, was retired from Glenmore Distillery where she had worked for 25 years, and was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral and the Altar Society. Her husband, John R. Murphy, died January 15, 1989. She is survived by 45 nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Russel (Lou) Jones, Robert Ballard, Chuck Ballard, Joseph Ballard, Patricia Ballard Hall and Betty Rose Ballard Reynolds, all of Owensboro, Eddie Ballard of Madisonville, and Mrs. Tony (Rosemary) Wathen of Boonville, IN. Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Stephen Cathedral. Burial in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery, Owensboro. Visitation from noon - 8 p.m. Sunday and after 8:30 a.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at the funeral home at 7:15 p.m. Sunday.
