Irene Barnett Hagood, 97, died Nov. 6, 2003, at Soddy-Daisy Health Care Center.

She formerly lived on Daisy Dallas Road in Hixson. She was born in Sequatchie, Tenn. on Jan. 30, 1906 and was the second oldest of nine children, all of whom have passed.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Denver and sons, Kenneth and Norman.

She also raised two of her granddaughters, Lauren Brown of Germany, and Kathy Haynes of Florida who survive her. She is also survived by nine other grandchildren, Mark Hagood, Georgia Lyon, Alan Hagood, Brian Hagood, Virginia Miller, and David Hagood of Michigan; Catherine Molanari of Georgia; Martha Corbet and Richard Hagood of California; eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Rita Hazel (Kenneth) of Florida and Mary Helen (Norman) of Michigan; devoted friends Wagie and Kenneth McEwen.

She had a wonderful sense of humor and was loved by all who knew her.

Rev Gary Lee will conduct a graveside service for family and friends to honor her at Hamilton County Memorial Park on Sunday, Nov. 16, at 1 p.m.
