Norma Vance Curtis
1922 - 2013

An elect daughter of God, Norma Vance Curtis, age 90, passed away on March 30, 2013, in the home of her daughter in St. George, Utah, surrounded by her family. WE LOVE YOU MOM AND WILL MISS YOU. She was born November 27, 1922, in Park Valley, Utah, to John Alma Vance Jr., and Gertrude Halliday. She grew up on their small farm with her brother, Alma and her sisters, Lucy and Thurza. Her sister, Beth, died as a child. She graduated from Brigham City High. Norma served a mission in Mexico for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1946-1948. She later served three missions with her husband in Spain, San Jose, California, and in the Swiss Temple. She felt that serving these missions was like living in a part of heaven. She attended BYU and it was there that she met her husband of 58 years, Brandt B. Curtis. They were married September 5, 1950, in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Norma worked as a lunch lady for 10 years. She loved camping, reading, gardening, being with her family, and serving others.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband and two great grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Paul Vance (Eleanore), Daniel Lyn (Mira), Esther Lee (Kent) Hawkins, Sylvia (Ronald) Andrew, Evelyn D. (Dahlen) Downing, Nathan Brandt (JulieAnn), 30 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013, 11 am at the Sharon East Stake Chapel at 2400 N 1060 E, Provo, Utah. Viewings will be held on Sunday evening, April 7, from 6-8 pm and on Monday from 10-10:45 am in the same chapel.
