ALLEN, Elizabeth Gray - 89, East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash, formerly of Joggins, passed away in the lodge, Thursday, March 13, 2003. Born in Joggins, she was a daughter of the late James and Janet (Read) Gray. She was a member of the Joggins United Church, a 70-year member of the Mayflower Rebekah Lodge 21 and a founding member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Joggins Branch 4. She was very active in community affairs and was associated with several organizations. She is survived by daughters, Jean Berry (Murray), Truro; Sandi Cooper (Alan), Joggins; son, James, Port Greville; son-in-law, Bill Hobbs, Elliston, NL; brother, David, Lower Sackville; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Daniel; daughter, Joan Hobbs; sisters, Margaret Hall, Christina Bishop; brothers, Jack and Adam. Her remains are resting in Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Her funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday in Cumberland Memorial Chapel, Rev. Danny Compton officiating. Spring burial will take place in River Hebert Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Joggins United Church, East Cumberland Lodge Recreation Fund, Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of your choice.
