Rebecca was the daughter of James Monroe, Jr. and Elizabeth (Huntington) Dunn. In addition to her parents, she was survived by five siblings: James Abner, John H., Benjamin F., George W. and Emma C. She was preceded in death by one sister, Sarah, on Nov. 17, 1848. No details of her funeral are known.

Burial was in the Gray Cemetery (formerly known as the Dunn Cemetery) in Perrytown Township, NE of Aledo, IL. This cemetery, located on the George Gray farm, has been abandoned for many years.
