Death claimed Mrs. Georgia Anna Camp, 42, the wife of W.B. Camp, prominent rancher and long-time Kern resident, Sunday morning at a local hospital following a short illness and operation. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O.C. App, 1320 Brundage Lane, Mrs. Camp came to this community at the age of 10 years from Pennsylvania and was educated in the local schools and University of California. She was married in 1922 to Mr. Camp, who was located on the United States Cotton Field Station, known then as the Shafter Experimental Farm and she went there as a bride to make her home.
In that community, as well as in college where she had held several student offices, she made countless friends, and she was missed when the family moved to Fresno where Mr.Camp's business intersted took them for three or four years. Government work in the Triple A organization in Washington, D.C., kept the Camps in the national capital for a few years, and upon coming back here, Mr. Camp returned to the Shafter area where his large ranch, named for his wife, the "Georgiana Farms," occupied his attention and was the ceneter of their residence. They moved to Bakersfield, remodeling and renovating the pictureque old Holthy place at 701 Oleander avenue two years ago.
Mrs. Camp had been junior college student body president during 1920-1921 and preceding that, served as business manager of what was then the high school and junior college paper, the Blue and White. She married while attending University of California. Mrs. Camp also has been active in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, being a member of its young women's group, St. Margaret's Guild. Since coming to Bakersfield to make her home, she affiliated with Chapter IW. P. E. O. Sisterhood.
Mr. and Mrs. camp's two sons, Wofford B. Camp, Jr. and Don Camp, age 20 and 18, respectively, are serving their country as members of the armed forces, the former being in United States Army infantry, attached to Fort McClellan, Ala., and the latter in the air corps, stationed at Miami. The elder son arrived home Sunday morning before his mother's death, and Don came from Miami today.
Others surviving besides Mr. Camp, their sons, and Mrs. Camp's parents are two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Walter Peterson and Mrs. Henry Durrett, both of Bakersfield, and Max App, Van Nuys; and several nephews and nieces: Jack, Gene and Tom Durrett; Norman Peterson, Mrs. Philippa Rhoades, Jane App and John App.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock from Flickinger's Chapel, with the Reverend Ralph Cox, rector of St. Paul's, officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, where private graveside rites will be conducted. Pallbearers include A.C. Dimon, Frank Jeppi, C.S. Anderson, A.J. Evans, A.L. Tucker and H.L. Pomeroy.
