Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lundberg's L.B. Hall Funeral Home with the Rev. Willis Wormuth of the Church of Christ officiating. Private family graveside services will be Monday at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.

Chilton was born Oct. 17, 1910, in Seymour, Texas. During his career, he worked as an overseas representative for Douglas Aircraft in Persia (Iran) for three years during World War II, where he was responsible for delivery to Russian military aircorps. Later he worked an an engine installation supervisor for Douglas Aircraft in Santa Monica, Calif.
In July 1953, he married the former Ruth L. Pearson in Pacific Palisades, Calif. He purchased property on Galice Road near Merlin in 1955 and began planning and constructing the Rogue Glen Lodge, which he opened in October of 1958. He retired from the lodge business in 1995.
Known as "The Jerky Man," he also operated Food Creations by Al, which he founded in 1962, specializing in the commercial and private sales of beef jerky, smoked meats, fish, sauces and recipes until 1996.
Chilton was a member of the Oregon Cavemen.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by many relatives in Texas and Oklahoma.
