Enoch, born 1836. Enoch married the daughter, Elizabeth Jane, of Christopher Cooper and Kathryn Kerbaugh Johnson. Enoch
and Elizabeth Jane are buried here in unmarked graves. (2) Mary Ann, born 1837. Mary Ann married Wm. VanCleave on 2-21-1856. Mary Ann's husband died on 10-14-1862. Mary Ann's father, Robert Henry, was appointed as guardian for the "orphaned" children in 1865. On 2-18-1867, Mary Ann remarried to William B. Bolen. There is a William B. Bolen (1846-1925) buried here with his wife, Cornelia. I do not know if this is the same William B. Bolen who married Mary Ann. There is no indication of a grave marker for Mary Ann Johnson VanCleave Bolen; however, her husband William VanCleave does have a marker here (died 10-14-1862), as does her husband (?) William B. Bolen (died 5-5-1925). One of Mary Ann's children, Laura L. who died 10-20-1862, is also buried here with a marker. Thus it would seem very likely that Mary Ann Johnson VanCleave Bolen is indeed buried here in an unmarked grave. (3) Samuel, born 1839. Samuel married Rebecca Jane Fisher on 9-30-1859 in Franklin County. He appears in the 1860 Census, but by the 1870 Census, he is no longer in the area. Samuel is named in his father's obituary. The obituary says Robert Henry died in Samuel's home, "2 miles south of Mt. Vernon." (4) Martha A. born 1841. Martha married Wilson Thompson. She is also listed in her father, Robert Henry's, 1885 obituary. (5) Robert J., born 1843. Robert was with IL 40th Co. A. He died after the battle of Shiloh, on 7-1-1862, at Mason, TN. He and his brother, Albert N., are buried here with a marker, "they served their country." (6) Albert N., born 1846. Albert died at Camp Butler (Springfield, IL) on 1-20-1864 while serving with IL 13th Infantry. Note that his father, Robert Henry, was a principal founder of this civil war regiment. Albert is buried here beside his brother, Robert J. (7) Harriet E., born 11-13-1847. Harriet died on 9-13-1858 and is buried here. (8) Falvius J. born 1849. Rev. Dupree in his book "Early Johnsons of Hamilton County" states that Flavius was married to Frances Boidin on 3-2-1867. After their divorce, he married Lizzie Beardon; then was married a 3rd time to Elizabeth J. Hunter on 2-5-1870 in Franklin County, IL. Neither Flavius nor any of his wives appear to buried here, yet we do know that he was still in Franklin County as late as 1870. (9) Isabelle, born 1851. Isabelle married B. J. W. Barnett on 10-10-1872. Neither appear to be buried here.
Only two children, Martha A. Johnson Thompson and Samuel Johnson, were named in Robert Henry's obituary in 1885. From this, I would infer that 7 of Robert Henry's 9 children, as well as his wife, Catherine Smith Johnson, had predeceased him. Although there is no "official" record that Robert Henry and Catherine Smith Johnson are buried here, I present this short history of their family as a remembrance of this early pioneer family who contributed so much to the town of Macedonia.
