The body of Jasper Jordan, better known as "Jappie", was found in a ditch by the road near the head of Tombleson Run, near Mt. Alto, late Thursday afternoon by the young man's father, William Jordan, and ended a three-day search of the father and neighbors to find the young man who had disappeared from his home on Monday night.

He was last seen in Mt. Alto on Monday evening and left there and started in the direction of his home. He was a victim of epilepsy and friends said that it was presumed that the young man, who was about 26 years old, had suffered an attack and fallen into the ditch and froze to death. An organized search had been started on Tuesday morning because it was feared at the time that the young man on his way home might have suffered an attack and because of the extremely cold weather, might have been frozen to death.

The search continued all day Tuesday and throughout Wednesday with no trace having been found beyond the fact that he had been to Mt. Alto late on the day of his disappearance. The search was resumed again on Thursday morning and late that afternoon the father came upon the frozen body. Funeral and burial services were held at the Morgan church in the Chestnut Ridge community. (Jackson Herald, Fri., 29 Jan 1943)
