Sullivan-Sept 24--Alexander Purvis for many years a farmer near Sullivan was found dead in a grove on Lucas Seass farm north of Sullivan Wednesday night about 8:30 oclock. His death was evidently caused by heart failure. Mr. Purvis had started out soon after dinner Wednesday with his grandson on a hunting trip. He left the boy at the fence with the horse and buggy and entered the timber. The boy waited until toward evening and when he did not return notified the family and a party was formed to search for him. In the party were his two sons, Arthur and Walter. The party was successful in finding the body about 8:30 oclock. The man had evidently been dead for some hours. Beside the body were found two squirrels Mr. Purvis had shot and his gun.
A coroners inquest was held Thursday morning and their decision was death by heart failure. Mr. Purvis has been in poor health for some time but did not appear any worse than usual Wednesday.
The funeral will be held from the house a mile northeast of Sullivan at 10 am Saturday morning and also funeral services at Jonathan Creek church.
