Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at the First Baptist Church of Shelbyville. Officiating will be the Rev. Dan Eloe of First Baptist Church of Shelbyville, IL., and the Rev. Richard Ratts of Forsyth Baptist Church, Forsyth, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. She was born Dec. 6, 1917, in Casey, IL., the daughter of Isaac Ellis and Minnie Tague Ratts.
She married Richard Yocom on Nov. 20, 1933, in Decatur, IL. He died on Apr. 10, 1994, after 61 years of marriage. Surviving are two special nephews, Michael (Pam) Ratts of Springfield, IL., and the Rev. Richard (Nancy) Ratts of Forsyth, IL.; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.
Freda was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; three brothers, Ralph, Riley, and Eugene Ratts; and six sisters, Stella Finney, Cecil Mumford, Marie Early, Pauline Chaney, Sylvia White, and Ruby Palmer.
Mrs. Yocom was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Shelbyville, IL., where she taught Sunday school classes for high school girls for many years
