Son of the late Robert C. and Ada Gunter Silveers, he was the widower of Jessie Evelyn Forbes Silvers. He was a member of the Beaver Creek Baptist Church. He had worked for Henredon Furniture in Spruce Pine, NC. He was survived by a brother, Carl Pitman; an aunt, Ruth Ayers; and an uncle, Howard Gunter. His funeral was held on April 12, 2012, with The Rev. Brandon Pitman officiating.
