Funeral for Alvirta Martin, Lawton, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Abe Deutschendorf, Lawton, officiating.
Mrs. Martin passed away Wednesday morning, April 11, 2012, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Burial will be in Memory Lane Cemetery, Anadarko, under direction of Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
She was born in Cache, to Jimmie Benjamin and Hester Ida Stidham Fields. She married Roy Victor Martin on Oct. 24, 1961, in Duncan. He died Oct. 31, 2005. She worked for Sears for more than 20 years, retiring in the Sears credit department. She was a member of the Sears Retirees club and was an avid square dancer and ballroom dancer. She enjoyed her fashion, garage sales, was active with the Mall Walkers, was an exercise enthusiast, and enjoyed traveling, most recently with trips to Branson. Mrs. Martin was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Jim Post, of Cassville, Mo.; two daughters: Shirley Galloway and husband, Joe, of Lawton; and Gwen Conley and husband, Ted, of Garfield, Ark.; five granddaughters: Debbie Roberts, Lawton; Geneva Roth and husband, Doug, of Hesperia, Calif.; Pam Harrington and husband, Kenny, of Las Vegas; Teresa Bean Mills, Rogers, Ark.; and Tammie Walker, Pea Ridge, Ark.; three grandsons: Kevin Galloway, of Lawton; Wayne Post, of Hesperia, Calif; and Brad Conley, of Cave Springs, Ark.; great-grandchildren: Ryan Jenkins, Brent Jenkins, and Melisa Jenkins, all of Lawton; Ashley Mills, of Rogers; Taylor Mills, of Fayetteville, Ark.; Haley Walker, of Bella Vista, Ark.; Dylan Walker, Colby Willett, and Kelsey Willett, all of Pea Ridge; Jason Conley, of Noel, Mo.; and Paige Conley, of Cave Springs, Ark.; great-great-grandchildren: Jordyn Jenkins, and Avery Jenkins, both of Lawton; and Ava Mills of Rogers; and numerous other great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Browder and Estelle Fields; Grady and Imogene Fields; and her special friend, Alfred Hennessee.
