Ada Bender Hoover, 91, St. Benedict, formerly of Patton, died Monday. She was born in St. Augustine, daughter of Walter and Mary (Hoover) Adams. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Bender; and second husband, Herman Hoover.
She is survived by children: Patrick Bender, David Bender and Margaret Ann Lawrence; and siblings: Francis, Robert, Mae Holtz, Jean Ann Krug and Betty Lou Davis. Friends will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Stevens Funeral Home, Patton. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton.

HOOVER – Ada Bender, 91, St. Benedict, formerly of Patton, passed away April 20, 2009, at St. Benedict Manor. She was born Sept. 18, 1917, in St. Augustine, the daughter of Walter and Mary (Hoover) Adams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 50 years, Charles "Red" Bender; her second husband, Herman Hoover; brothers, Gerald and Sherman Adams; and sister, Della Davis. She is survived by her children: Patrick (Barbara) Bender, Tucson, Ariz.; David (Shirley) Bender, Ebensburg; and Margaret Ann Lawrence, Patton; son-in-law, Wayne Lawrence, Carrolltown; grandchildren: Eric Bender, Rodney Bender, Renee Evans, Lori Lawrence Milanesi, Lisa Lawrence Panaro and Lana Lawrence Miller; and great-grandchildren: Anthony, Dominic, Nicholas and Matthew Milanesi; Julien and Zoe Panaro; Adam, Megan and Leah Miller; and Sara and Jack Bender. She also is survived by her brothers and sisters: Francis Adams, Elk Grove, Calif.; Robert (Jean) Adams, Chest Springs; Mae Holtz, Hesperia, Calif.; Jean Ann (Pat) Krug, Loretto; and Betty Lou Davis, Northern Cambria; also by numerous nieces and nephews. Ada was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton Garden Club and Patton American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Friends will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Stevens Funeral Home Inc., 1004 N. Fifth Ave., Patton, where vigil for the deceased will be held.
