Born to parents Henry Shaffer and Jamie Trowbridge he married Norma A. Adami and had the following children: Leroy, Robert, Mrs. Frank Kalanick, and Barbara. He was employed in the maintence dept of the AC&F industries inc. retiring 2 years prior to his death. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.He had an outstand carrear in civic, educational, Union, Political, and faternal circles.Amoung his political activities was service as County Coroner for a period of time. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Berwick Hospital serving for the past 15 years. He also served on the Berwick Boad of Education for 2 terms being active in the BHS athletic Counsel. He also served as the financial secretery and Chairman of the Grievance Comettee of Local 1864 United Steelworkers of America the CIO union at the ACF plantin years before the shut down. He was a charter member of the Eagle Hose company and also a member of the Ranger fire Company, Berwick Moose Lodge, a former trustee of the Berwick Aerie, Faternal order of Eagles. His other affilations included membership in the Shamokin Home Association and former of the historical Society.
