"SCHENEVUS - Jay Alcott died at his home on East street Wednesday morning, March 22nd, following a year's invalidism during which time he received frequent treatments at the Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, for a malignant growth which caused his death. Mr. Alcott was born at Otselic, May 3, 1872, and was a son of Amon and Mary (Lamphere) Alcott. Incidentally he was a relative of Louise May Alcott, the author. He is survived by his widow, three sons, Kenneth and Carlton of Schenevus and Leslie of Worcester, and one daughter, Mrs. Clarence Pier; three brothers, Lonnie, of Sidney, Orello of Lebanon and Albert of Hamilton, and thirteen grandchildren. The funeral was held Saturday from the Tillapaugh Funeral Home at 2 p. m., the Rev. Franklin Dodd officiating. Burial in Schenevus cemetery."
