1850 & 1860 Census records state that he was born in Ohio.
Also, his son (Benjamin Franklin Lippitt) DC states that Abraham was born in Mount Vernon, Knox, Ohio. Abraham's granddaughter was the informant on this DC.

Just a note-while researching Abraham, I have found another Memorial
in this same cemetery for 'Abram W. Lippitt', d. 26 Dec 1862, Memorial created in 2014- it is this Memorial that is showing up in searches for him.
Perhaps in your Memorial, the 'Lieut' in his title, is throwing off the search engines?
