John Allen Chambers, 22, 1910 Winston Drive, died Wednesday afternoon in a car accident in Illinois. Services will be Saturday at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church. The George L. Gay Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the John A. Chambers Leadership Award Memorial Fund, Lawrence University, Appleton, Wis. 54912.
Mr. Chambers was born July 9, 1959, in Washington, Iowa a son of George A. and Barbara J. Norris Chambers. He graduated from Iowa City High School in 1977. In June, he graduated from Lawrence University with a degree in government. He had been employed as a chapter consultant for Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. He was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, served as president of Delta Tau Delta and two years as captain of the swim team there.
Survivors include his mother and father, both of Iowa City; a brother, David of Iowa City; grandmothers, Dorothy Chambers of Keota, Mrs. Marie Norris of Cedar Rapids; and an aunt, Virginia Norris of Washington, Iowa.
