Hospital Corpsman 2/c U.S. Navy, Vietnam War-Corpsman Kierznowski was killed in action during Operation Idaho Canyon by artillery fire on 9-12-1969 while serving as a Combat Medic {Doc} with the H&S Co. of the 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. Corpsman Kierznowski started his tour of Vietnam on July 9, 1969.

He is the the son of Mr. & Mrs. Kierznowski of Crete, Illinois, and the husband of Mrs. Patsy R. Kierznowski of R.R. #2 West Brooklyn, Illinois.

Awards: Navy Cross, Purple Heart Medal, Combat Medical Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with One Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal.

Footnote: Corpsman Kierznowski was first nominated for the Medal of Honor.

Addendum: The President of the United States of America takes pride in presenting the Navy Cross {Posthumously} to Hospitalman 2nd Class Terrence E. Kierzonwski {NSN:509521}, U.S. Navy, for extraordinary heroism while serving as a Corpsman with Co. K, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines, 3rd Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force, in connection with combat operations against the enemy in the Republic of Vietnam.
