Arden - Adele E. MacRae, 90, of Crescent View Retirement Community, Arden died on Saturday, February 26, 2011 after a long illness.
Mrs. MacRae was born on April 5, 1920 in New York City. She lived most of her life in New York State and New Jersey until she and her husband retired to Maggie Valley, N.C. to golf in 1976.
She was a longtime member of Grace Episcopal Church in The Mountains in Waynesville and a member of the Maggie Valley Country Club where she golfed for many years.
Mrs. MacRae is the daughter of the late Ethel and Edward Goertler. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Edward Goertler Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon of Arden; daughter, Carol of Asheville; son, Gordon R, and his wife, Barbara of Denver; granddaughter, Christi Newton and her husband, Michael of Colorado, and her sister-in-law, Vicki Goertler of New York.
A memorial service will be held at Crescent View on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace Episcopal Church in The Mountains, 394 N. Haywood St, Waynesville, NC 28786 or Crescent View Retirement Community, 2533 Hendersonville Rd. Arden NC 28704.
