Herald Coaster, April 28, 1961:

Funeral services for Mrs. Joe (Emillie) Marek, 71, of Needville, were held at 9:15 a.m. from the Garmany & Co. Chapel in Needville, and at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Michael's Catholic Church, with the Rev. T.W. Kappe and Rev. J.J. Tydlacka officiating. Rosary was recited for her at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday in the Garmany & Co. Chapel in Rosenberg, and at 8:00 p.m. Thursday in the Garmany & Co. Chapel in Needville.

Mrs. Marek passed away early Wednesday morning at her home. She was a long-time resident of Fort Bend County. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church of Needville. She was preceded by her husband in death on February 21, 1960.

Included among her survivors are three sons, Edward of Houston, Joe Jr. of Freeport, and Eugene of Needville; two daughters, Mrs. R.D. Hurst of Angleton, Miss Ella Marek of Rento, Washington; one brother, John Baca of Granger; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Matt Mensik, Lad Stavinoha, John Kasaprek, Eric Tielke, Johnny Sury, and Dick Bartles.

Burial was in the St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Needville. Arrangements under the direction of Garmany & Co. Funeral Directors.
