Born in Southern Pines, NC, on October 28, 1927, she was a daughter of William and Edna (Simpson) Avery. She was a graduate of Stephens High School.
She was an avid Beano player and Red Sox fan. She enjoyed spending time with her family, rug braiding, and wintering in Fort Myers, Fla. She was also a foster mom along with taking care of her eight children.
She was married in Rumford on May 17, 1948, to Earl Milligan.
She was predeceased by her parents; and a grandson, Neil Weston.
Interment will be at Abbotts Mills Cemetery, Rumford.
