Graveside services for—John G. Blane Sr, 76. widely-known retired insurance company executive, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Riverside Cemetery.

Officiating will be the Rev. Marvin B. Whitmer, pastor of First Methodist Church, and the Rev. Sidney M. Maddox, pastor of First Baptist Church.

Mr. Blane, associated for 30 years with the Pan American Life Insurance Co. of New Orleans, died yesterday afternoon at Jennie Stuart Hospital. He represented the insurance firm in four Central American republics with main offices in Guatamala City. After serving three decades with the company Mr. Blane retired and returned to Hopkinsville in 1956. He held his last convention of agents in this city with some 45 insurance representatives from Central America attending the elaborate program.

Mr. Blane was born at Montgomery in Trigg County on June 19, 1885, the son of Dr. Henry Blane1 longtime Trigg County physician, and Lucy Dyer Blane.

Most of his early life was spent in Panama during the construction of the Panama Canal. After 12 years in Panama, Mr. Blane moved to New Orleans for six years.

The retired insurance official, who lived at 2101 S. Main St., was active in civic and community affairs here. He was a member of First Methodist Church.

In 1924 he married Evelyn Quarles, who survives.

Mr. Blane is also survived by two sons, Andy Blane, engaged in Russian research at Harvard University under a Ford Foundation fellowship, and John Blane Jr., of the city; a sister, Mrs. Ben Blane, Pee Dee, and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Lacy Joiner Jr., D. D. Cayce III, K. O. Cayce Jr., Milburn Keith, L. O. Graham, and Hal Thurmond.
