The Funeral of Mr. Lewis.

"The funeral of the late Hugh M. Lewis, county clerk of Washington county, who died at his residence in this city at 1 o'clock on Monday afternoon of pneumonia, took place yesterday morning shortly after 10 o'clock from the family residence on West street, to the Episcopal church, and thence out to the city cemetery. The obsequies were in charge of the Knights of Honor, of which order the deceased was a member, and the service at the church was conducted by Rev. F. S. Leigh, of Hempstead. Notwithstanding that the rain was descending in torrents, the church was filled with friends who had come to pay the last mark of respect to the deceased, thus evidencing the high and almost universal esteem in which he was held. When the services at the church were concluded the downpour was unabated, but a long line of carriages and buggies took up the march to the cemetery, where all that was mortal of Hugh M. Lewis was deposited in the final resting place on earth."
