Island Park News Ila A. Marotz, 90, from Ashton, was called home on Friday, March 4, 2011. She was born February 19, 1921, in Ashton, and was the eighth of fourteen children to her parents John and Laura Atchley. She married Herman Edward Marotz November 3, 1938, in Idaho Falls. They made their home in Greentimber, where they spent their time farming and enjoying the company of family and friends. Ila was a devout Christian, an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, LWML, and the Mary Martha League. She was a member of the Good Fellowship Club for 50 years and volunteered with Helping Hands and the Visitors Center. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Ila will be remembered by many for her love of camping, gardening, and her creativity. In the latter part of her life, she enjoyed spending the winters in Mesa, Arizona, with her sister Elsie.

Ila is survived by her children, Jack (Nancy) Marotz and Mickie (Jerry) Funke; grandchildren Ryan Funke, Janel Funke Marsilio, Jonathan Marotz, Alissa Marotz Lewis, James Marotz and Mindie Funke Lipphardt; great grandchildren Reiley Bauer, Brandon and Mathew Lewis, Luca, Camila, and Mya Marsilio and Sarah Jane Marotz; as well as her sister Erna Lee Pinney and her brother Edward Atchley.

Ila was preceded in death by her husband Herman Marotz, siblings James "Jim" Atchley, Nora Atchley Craig, Elsie Atchley Howell, Eva Atchley) Dalling, Wayne Atchley, Vivian Atchley Hubbard, John "Buster" Atchley, Velva Atchley Steele, Willa Atchley Sutton and two brothers that died in childhood. Friends and family will celebrate her life during a worship service being held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at Zion Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the worship service. Funeral services are being arranged by Baxter Funeral Home. Ila will be laid to rest alongside her husband at the Ashton Pineview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Ashton Living Center or to Zion Lutheran Church.
