Thompson: "There are records of land transactions in Kent Co., Del. In a deed to Maxwell, 1796 (Kent Co. Deed Book E2, p. 271) I, Newell Beauchamp, purposing to go to the wilds of Kentucky....' He came to Kentucky in 1796 (letter from his granddaughter Mrs. Kate B. Melone). His home near Chaplin, KY is still standing. It was occupied after him by Newell, Jr."
