Calvin Augspurger was on the teaching staff of Wilson Junior High School {Hamilton, Ohio} since "1935"; and, was very well liked by, both, students and his co-workers. Suffering two previous heart attacks {"may 1951" & "november 1952"} his demise remained an extreme shock to his family, friends and the host of students who cared so much for him.

Upon news of his departure from this world, an announcement was made in all schools having any of his present or past students in attendance; and, the Hamilton City School Board announced that no active students would be excused to attend his funeral. That was said to be necessary because there would have been so many students attending that they would be unable to hold classes, that day. However, immediately, after the announcement, one student rose from his desk and walked to the office. Upon entering the office, the assistant principal granted immediate approval for the student to attend. The student, then, wrote a Memorial Poem to be read as a part of the eulogy with the master-copy being presented to Calvin's widow, Ethel M. Smith-Augspurger, whom he had married on "26 october 1946".

A life-long member of the Trenton Mennonite Church, his funeral was taken care of by the James Zettler Funeral Home; 2646 Pleasant Avenue; with J. E. Amstutz {pastor} officiating. Burial was in the Trenton Mennonite Cemetery; Liberty-Fairfield Township Line Road.
