Before retiring, he practiced ophthalmology in Ridgewood. He also had been a professor of ophthalmology at New York University, where he was on the staff for 35 years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Arrangements: Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, Franklin Lakes." Almerindo is listed in Who Was Who in America, Volume 11, 1993-1996. He enlisted in the Army in 1943 at Fort Dix, New Jersey as a Private after finishing two years of college.
