GALVESTON - Mary Corrinne Putegnat, 74, of Galveston, Texas, passed away on October 8,1997, following a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held on Friday, October 10,1997, at 10:30 a.m., in the Memorial Room of Broadway Funeral Home. Burial to follow services Friday at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends after 5:00 p.m., Thursday, October 9, 1997, at the funeral home.
Bom in Waco, Texas, to Willis and Lola Anders on Friday the 13th of October, 1922, Mary graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, Texas, and then later moved to the island in 1950. In 1968 she bought the Gizmo Club and remained owner until 1990.
Mary deeply appreciated her customers and vendors for the business and service. She will always be remembered for her famous Thanksgiving Day dinners at The Gizmo.
Her loyalty to her community was shown many, many times with her kind expressions of donations to fundraisers of any kind held by children and adults alike. Mary was an avid sports fan, liking most sports, but she truly loved her football.
Mary is preceded in death by her sons, Bobby Putegnat and Earl Lee Williams and her daughter, Margaret Nelson. Her memory will forever linger in the hearts of her beloved husband, Henry "Skeeter" Putegnat; her son, Steve and grandchildren; her sister, Dorothy Irvine and brother-in-law, Raymond of Ivanhoe, Texas; her beloved dog, Tina; numerous nieces, nephews, Bother family members and many friends,
