In 1900 she and her parents and three siblings lived on a farm they owned, mortgage free, in Justice Precinct 7, Coleman County, TX.

In 1910 the six of them lived on probably the same farm, which had a mortgage on it.

In 1920 she and her first husband lived in Abilene, TX. He worked as a laborer doing odd jobs.

In 1930 she and her four children lived in a rear apartment they were renting for $12 a month at 730 China Street in Abilene. They did not have a radio. She worked as a picker for a produce house.

In 1940 she and her second husband and five of her children--all but Della--lived in a house they were renting for $12 a month at 618 24th Street in Corpus Christi, TX. He worked as an operator of a drag line in an oil field, with an income in 1939 of $1920 for 48 weeks of work. Robert worked as a delivery boy for a retail drug store, with an income in 1939 of $25 for four weeks of work.
