Sarah was born on January 14, 1661-2 in Lexington, Mass., the daughter of Isaac Stearns and Sarah Beers. Her father died in 1676 and her mother remarried the next year, to Thomas Wheeler of Concord. Thomas had a son, John, from his first marriage. Sarah married her step-brother John Wheeler on December 27, 1678 in Concord.

John and Sarah had seven children, all born in Concord. In the vital records of Concord, John was called "Deacon", so he must have been active in the church. Sarah died in Concord in December, 1727. John died on December 1, 1736. John may have had a second wife, also named Sarah, who outlived him and died April 18, 1741.

It has been supposed that Sarah was buried in the Old Hill Cemetery in Concord, but recently, the cemetery records and the cemetery itself was searched, and no grave or record was found. She was probably buried on the grounds of the family farm on Virginia Road in Concord.
