William Ervin Smith, 86, of the 700 block of Firethorn Road, died Nov. 8, 1996, in Chesapeake General Hospital.
He was born in Norfolk on Nov. 16, 1909. The son of the late Walter S. and Alice Whitehurst Smith, Mr. Smith was secretary/treasurer and part owner of the Yoder and Gordon Paint Co., Norfolk, and a retired accountant with the Royster Co.
Survivors include his loving wife, Eunice H. Smith; a son, Stuart B. Smith of Chesapeake; two daughters, Martha R. Smith of Chesapeake and Diane S. Barker and her husband, Robert, of Virginia Beach.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the residence. Twiford Colonial Chapel, Great Bridge, Chesapeake, is in charge.
